As ADM we wanted to provide a platform to discuss, organize and struggle. Just as fundamental social change is inconceivable without building the necessary organization, organization is nothing without a coherent and solid theoretical foundation. It is therefore necessary to intensify the critique of the existing, to think alternatives, to educate ourselves and to organize according to that. We are not only interested in theoretical analysis, but in a change of thinking, of attitudes and thus in a social change. In a time of crisis of #capitalistmodernity we discuss about building up and seeking for an alternative in the here and now on the basis of radical democracy, ecology and women’s liberation.
The introduction to democratic confederalism was well attended. Despite the heat, around 30 people from different parts of Belgium participated. Starting with the history of Kurdistan and the concept of ‘paradigm’, the presentation moved on to practical examples of democratic confederalism, with the conclusion focusing on the current political situation in Rojava and Bakur. During the discussion, questions were raised about how to implement these ideas in the Belgian context, how to solve the economic issue, and how to confront the state. The evening ended with an enriching discussion among diverse individuals from different backgrounds about the realities of Kurdistan and Belgium.
