The History of Internationalism – Contributions from the First Internationalist Conference of Rojava, 2022

Four years have passed since the founding of the ADM. Since March 2022, we have aimed to share the ideas and experiences of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, along with its paradigm of democratic modernity. We have sought to build bridges between various struggles around the world, initiating joint discussions with activists, academics, and anti-systemic and social movements, in order to advance our search for radical alternatives to capitalist modernity and the realization of democratic socialism.

We have chosen to celebrate our anniversary on March 18, the anniversary of the Paris Commune, because it set the first example of a workers’ government, and its spirit continues to live on to this day. In memory of the more than 17,000 Communards who were murdered and to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the Paris Commune in 2026, as well as our fourth anniversary, we are pleased to present a new brochure on the history of internationalism. It provides a comprehensive overview of the various stages of internationalism, from the historical experiences of the three Internationals to anti-colonial struggles, the Spanish Revolution, the 1968 movement, and democratic confederalism as a perspective for internationalism and women’s liberation in the 21st century.
